Cry of the Erth, Cry of the Poor

[Note: This book is available for sale in the AllianceConnect bookstore.] "Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor" represents Leonardo Boff's most systematic effort to date to link the spirit of liberation theology with the urgent challenge of ecology. Focusing on the threatened Amazon of his native Brazil, Boff traces the ties that bind the fate of the rain forests with the fate of the Indians and the poor of the land. In this book, readers will find the keys to a new, liberating faith.

Earth Community, Earth Ethics

[Note: This book is available for sale in the AllianceConnect bookstore.] This acclaimed book provides a comprehensive approach to issues of social cohesion and ecological concern, synthesizing insights from religion, ethics, and environmental science in a single vision for creating a sustainable community of the Earth. With environmental ethics as its primary focus, Larry Rasmussen brings together insights from diverse sources on the state of the environment -- and what can be done, now, to halt the degradation of life. Larry Rasmussen first scans our global situation and the threats to life posed by the modern world. Next, he turns to the realms of religious faith and human symbolism, gleaning from them the resources for a "conversion to earth" needed for global survival. Finally, Rasmussen offers a constructive ethic, a program of "Earth Action" that can shape a global movement toward sustainable community. For all those concerned with the environment, religion, and society, Earth Community, Earth Ethic

Environmental Justice with Indigenous Peoples

Each year, Creation Justice Ministries offers a resource to help Christian communities pray, learn, and act on a certain issue, chosen by Creation Justice Ministries' board. Our 2017 resource explores the impact the Doctrine of Discovery has had on U.S. history and theology, as well as our relationships with God's creation and one another. It also includes information about tribal sovereignty, sacred places, and consumer choices. The resource can be useful for observing Earth Day Sunday on the Sunday closest to Earth Day (April 22), the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation on September 1, or the Sunday closest to Indigenous Peoples Day/Columbus Day in October. Find sermon preparation resources, hymn suggestions, Christian education ideas, action opportunities, and more. Download it today at www.creationjustice.org/indigenous, and remember you can find a host of other Christian education resources released in previous years at www.creationjustice.org/educational-resources.
