From "Creation Care" to "Watershed Discipleship"

This article - From "Creation Care" to "Watershed Discipleship" : Re-Placing Ecological Theology and Practice - was published in the Fall 2014 edition of the Conrad Grebel Review. In it, Ched Myers explores how our theology might be re-placed in light of the arrival of global ecological crisis. Instead of an abstract or unfocused theology of creation care, it suggests that the best way to orient the church’s work and witness is through bioregionally-grounded planning and action which focuses on the actual watersheds we inhabit.

Peaceteacher: Jesus' Way of Shalom

*The "free download" link takes you to a page where the book can be purchased for $13 USD* In his latest book, Stephen D. Jones identifies four chapters in Jesus' ministry as a teacher of peace and shalom, and he helps us see the centrality of shalom to Jesus' ministry and teachings. Recognizing the challenge of interpreting Jesus' central teaching, the kingdom of God, to persons in the 21st century, the author suggests, "Today, people might better respond to the Shalom of God, an anticipated time in which God's way of fulfillment, hope, well being, nonviolence and justice will be revealed. The Shalom of God is 'at hand' when all things work together as God intended. Jesus is the peaceteacher of the shalom on God."
