Rabbis Against Gun Violence Resource Packet

On Wednesday, December 14th, 2106, the 4th Annual National Vigil for All Gun Violence Victims will be held in Washington, D.C. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, launching local vigils and commemorations across the nation from December 14-18th. Congregations from coast to coast will participate – offering prayers, songs, and education. Faith communities will remember those who have lost their lives to gunfire, pray for those whose lives have been forever changed because of gun related injuries or the loss of a loved one, and educate one another on proven strategies to reduce gun violence. Your congregation, community, school or family can participate by incorporating songs, readings, poems, prayers, sermons and/or discussions in your service, at a community gathering or vigil, or around your family Shabbat table. This Resource Packet has ready-to-use materials, suggestions, and links to other sources that make it easy for you to find what you might want or need to make this happen.

Care for God's Creatures: A Christian Education Resource

The "Care for God's Creatures" resource was written by an ecumenical team that included Rev. Sarah Macias. It covers topics such as learning from animals, spiritually growing by connecting with animals, stewardship of creation, and protecting endangered species. It is designed to be useful year-round, but was released for the celebration of Earth Day Sunday, which can be observed the Sunday before or after Earth Day (April 22). Additional opportune moments to use this resource include September 1, recognized by Orthodox and Catholic communions as the World Day of Prayer for Care of Creation, or in October, during the Season of Creation and close to the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi.
