Commonwealth of God-Tales of Radical Hospitality

Our congregation has a weekly hospitality ministry, creating a safe place for people experiencing homelessness to come rest, relax, or meet a new friend. These short reflection guides based on the agrarian parables of Jesus were used as a centering for volunteers hosting our guests. They can be read in 2-5 minutes and used to generate group discussion, or to guide a personal meditation.

This statement was written and has been endorsed by multiple bodies of faith, including the Alliance of Baptists (Austin, TX, 4/14/12). It is a proposal, founded in scripture and tradition, to national leaders to "act with mercy and justice by serving the common good, robustly funding support for poor and vulnerable people, both at home and abroad, and exercising proper care and keeping of the earth."
