A Statement on Cuba, for consideration at Alliance Annual Gathering 2015

This year the Alliance of Baptists and the Fraternity of Baptist Churches of Cuba mark 25 years of a partnership that has mutually enriched our movements and congregations. Born of similar circumstances of crisis within larger and older denominational bodies, we found ourselves in the words of one of the Fraternity’s early leaders, “like the disciples on the road to Emmaus,” stunned by apparent defeat yet surprisingly awakened to the reality of resurrection. For this ongoing relationship we give thanks to God. We are particularly grateful for the congregational partnerships and innumerable friendships that have been forged during this time.

Commonwealth of God-Tales of Radical Hospitality

Our congregation has a weekly hospitality ministry, creating a safe place for people experiencing homelessness to come rest, relax, or meet a new friend. These short reflection guides based on the agrarian parables of Jesus were used as a centering for volunteers hosting our guests. They can be read in 2-5 minutes and used to generate group discussion, or to guide a personal meditation.
